Packaging concept for the Bricklink™ designer program set, “Medieval Seaside Castle”.

This project explored how a recognizable visual identity can evolve across generations. I chose to redesign packaging for LEGO's Medieval Seaside Market, drawing inspiration from the distinctive packaging language of the 1980s LEGO Castle theme. Rather than creating a direct replica, I wanted to investigate how those visual elements could coexist with the information, photography, and storytelling expected from a contemporary LEGO product.

The challenge was determining which elements of the original visual system were essential to its identity. I incorporated recognizable features such as the yellow packaging, diagonal title treatment, and bold color blocking, then paired them with contemporary elements including a minifigure lineup, actual-size references, and feature-focused photography.

Through the project, I learned that designing for an established brand is often an exercise in balance. A successful redesign doesn't need to abandon the past to feel new; it can identify the elements that give a brand its character and reinterpret them for a different context.
